Dit wordt door het lichaam omgezet in vitamine A.<\/p><p>Van nature zit vitamine A in roomboter. Toen margarine, halvarine en andere bak- en braadproducten in Nederland opkwamen als alternatief voor boter, vlak na de Tweede Wereldoorlog, heeft de Nederlandse overheid met de producenten van die alternatieven afgesproken dat zij er o.a. vitamine A aan mochten toevoegen. Een te lage inname van vitamine A vermindert je weerstand. Daarnaast kan je huid droog en schilferig worden en je haar dof. Krijg je chronisch te weinig vitamine A binnen, dan kan er een storing aan je gezichtsvermogen ontstaan. Ze worden direct in je bloed opgenomen, maar als je lichaam ze niet nodig heeft dan verlaten ze je lichaam direct weer via je urine.
